Zeddy Lawrence has been the national editor of The Australian Jewish News responsible for both the Melbourne and Sydney editions of the paper and its website www.jewishnews.net.au since arriving in Australia from the UK in November 2009. Under Zeddy’s editorship, The AJN has covered a number of groundbreaking stories that have gone on to make national and international headlines, including on child sexual abuse and cover-ups within the community, and antisemitic bullying at public schools.
The paper has also won a number of prestigious accolades at the NSW Premier’s Multicultural Media Awards including Best Editorial for a piece written by Zeddy, Best Print Publication, Best Investigative Story, Best Image, Best News Report and Best Use of Social and Digital Media.
From 2005 to 2009, Zeddy served as editor of The Jewish News in the UK.
Before entering the world of Jewish media, he spent four years as a broadcast journalist, employed as news editor at the radio station Mercury FM, and as a presenter and reporter at the radio stations LBC and News Direct 97.3 FM.
He also worked as a scriptwriter for several of years on a number of television and radio series. Credits included EastEnders (BBC1), Byker Grove (ITV), London Bridge (ITV), The House of Windsor (ITV), Dream Team (Sky 1) and Weekending (Radio 4).
Born and brought up in London, Zeddy has a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Radio Journalism from the London College of Printing.
